The Leopard Letter
A 2026 California Distinguished School

Los Cerritos Middle School has a proven history of academic excellence.

This includes our school being recognized as a 2026 California Distinguished School, a prestigious honor. LCMS earned this recognition through successful demonstration of Exceptional Student Performance. Schools recognized for Exceptional Student Performance are among the highest in overall student achievement, while also ensuring that historically underserved student groups are maintaining or increasing academic progress.

Since its inception in 1985, the California Distinguished Schools Award remains one of the state’s most important ways to celebrate exceptional schools, districts, teachers, and classified employees for their innovation, talent, and success in supporting students.

A Caring, Connected Community

Los Cerritos Middle School understands, values, and addresses the complex social, emotional, and physical needs of middle school students. Working as partners with their parents, we guarantee them a quality education through a varied, comprehensive, and rigorous curricular and extracurricular program designed to nurture ethical citizens and life-long learners. We continually strive to improve the learning environment and programs for all students.
